  2. PINOCLE GAMES REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  4. PINOCLE GAMES is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  5. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  6. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  7. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  8. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  9. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
  10. continue to develop new products.  If you find this program
  11. useful and find that you are using PINOCLE GAMES and continue to
  12. use PINOCLE GAMES after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  13. registration payment of $15 to the author, Michael G. Bruckner, at
  14. the address below. The $15 registration fee will license one copy
  15. for use on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this
  16. software just like a book.  An example is that this software may be
  17. used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one
  18. computer location to another, so long as there is no possibility of
  19. it being used at one location while it's being used at another...
  20. just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  21. same time.

  24. word ( a "command line parameter" ) that will prevent the ad at the
  25. end of the game from appearing, (2) a new copy of PINOCLE GAMES,
  26. (3) a REGISTERED bonus utility - REMI, a reminder program, and
  27. (4) I will also offer some guarantees as stated in the USER SUPPORT
  28. section below.

  67. You are encouraged to pass a copy of PINOCLE GAMES along to your
  68. friends for evaluation.  The PINOCLE GAMES system includes six files
  69. all beginning with the letters 'pin'.  You can use the DOS wildcard
  70. characters ? and * in your copy command to copy all the files from
  71. one place (drive) to another.  For example, to copy all the PINOCLE
  72. GAMES files from a floppy disk in drive A to a directory named
  73. MYGAMES on your hard disk drive C, you could enter the following DOS
  74. command:
  75.            copy a:pin?????.* c:\mygames\
  76.  
  77. The following command would copy the files on one disk in drive A
  78. to another disk in drive B:
  79.  
  80.            copy a:pin?????.* b:
  81.  
  82. The diskcopy command ( for example...    diskcopy a: a: ) can be
  83. used to make exact duplicates of disks.  Please encourage your
  84. friends to register their copy if they find that they use it.

  86. Commercial users of PINOCLE GAMES must register and pay for their
  87. copies of PINOCLE GAMES within 30 days of first use or their
  88. license is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by
  89. contacting Michael G. Bruckner at the above address.

  91. Anyone distributing PINOCLE GAMES for any kind of remuneration
  92. must first contact Michael G. Bruckner at the above address for
  93. authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted to
  94. distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
  95. for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin
  96. offering PINOCLE GAMES immediately ( However Michael G. Bruckner
  97. must still be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date
  98. with the latest version of PINOCLE GAMES ).

  102. PINOCLE GAMES has been thoroughly tested by the author and, to
  103. his knowledge, is not harmful to other files or hardware if used
  104. properly.  The author may be contacted by mail (at the address for
  105. registration) to answer questions or to fix a serious bug.  The
  106. author is not required to correct problems related to a specific
  107. environment or feature.  PINOCLE GAMES operates in the graphics
  108. mode.  The following graphics drivers are supported: VGA, EGA,
  109. CGA, MCGA, Hercules, AT&T, PC3270, and IBM8514.  The author will
  110. offer a refund if an uncorrectable problem is reported within a
  111. three month period after registration.  Please also read the
  112. DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT section below.

  115. Shareware Professionals (ASP). ASP wants to make sure that the

  134. THE SHAREWARE CONCEPT

  136. Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
  137. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  138. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  139. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  140. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  141. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  142. distribution.
